Your paint edger deserves a fresh pad. The pad keeps the paint edge sharp and straight. After a few coats — or after working on rough surfaces — the fibres get flattened and the line no longer looks as crisp. A fresh set of pads brings your edger back to as-new condition.

When should you replace it?

The fibres are flattened or keep holding on to paint
Your lines are no longer as clean and straight as they used to be
Rule of thumb: replace after 2–3 rooms — or sooner if you use textured paint or paint rough walls
